Parks, Trails:
Belle Isle:
Main access to Belle Isle is by pedestrian footbridge near Tredegar St. on the north shore. Contains wooded trails, mountain biking trails, interpreted historical sites, wheelchair-accessible fishing at the quarry pond, and a granite wall for rock climbing. Explore the river rocks. The trail around the island from the footbridge and back is 1 mile. 300 Tredegar St.
Brown's Island:
Large outdoor space for walking. Bring your own frisbee, bocce set, or other outdoor games to enjoy. Circling the island on the paved path is roughly 0.5 mile. Access at the bottom of 12th street on the James River.
Liberty Trail:
Self-guided 6.2 mile loop with prominent sidewalk markers hitting some of the most important sites in Richmond's history. Links with the Slave Trail. Start at any of the numerous historic sites around the city. See map at link in title.
Slave Trail:
Start at Manchester Docks on Brander St and follow the self-guided walking tour along and across the river into downtown, eventually linking up with the Liberty Trail. Manchester Docks, Maury Street Richmond, VA 23224
Pipeline Trail:
A trail with a few steep steps that follows on top of a city water pipeline along the river. Great views of Blue Heron nesting area. Access from Canal Walk at S. 12 th St. or Byrd St.
The Canal Walk:
The Canal Walk stretches 1.25 miles along the James River and Kanawha and Haxall Canals, and has access points at nearly every block between 5th and 17th Streets.
